Path to the Truth

The way to the truth.

It is not how much you know the Bible that makes you a Christian; it is what you believe from reading the Bible that makes you one. In a nutshell, it is your faith in Jesus Christ as the sacrifice for sins that makes you a Christian.

"Jesus replied, “You, a respected Jewish teacher, and yet you don’t understand these things? I am telling you what I know and have seen—and yet you won’t believe me." John 3:10-11

You can read the Bible for a whole life time and never accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. It may be that reading is your hobby or you just love stories. The Bible is not a story book but the Book of Life; it will be like a story book to you if it is stories that you are after. I know so many Professors of Theology who are not born again; it is just their profession.

Nicodemus was a Pharisee and not just an ordinary one; He was a leader of Pharisees and what you would liken to a Professor of Theology in this time of life. The major requirement of being a Pharisee was that you had to know all the first five books of Moses by heart and you had to be able to quote the same by heart. Nicodemus knew all these yet he did not know the simplest truth; the way to Salvation.

Not only did Nicodemus not know the way of Salvation, he also didn't believe the truth when the Saviour told him. Icons, it is not how much you read the truth in God's word that matters, it is what you believe and do with the truth that matters. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

Action Plan:- Go out to find Jesus in the word whenever you read the Bible and your life will change.

Prayer:- Open my eyes Lord to behold wonders out of your word.

WORK

Put your hands to work.

Grace is the area of the Bible that has been grossly misunderstood both by those who know it and those who do not alike. According to the Zondervan Encyclopedia of Bible words, "Grace is a dynamic force that does more than affecting our standing with God by crediting us with righteousness."

From this definition, two things come to light. Firstly, it is through God's grace that we obtain righteousness and not by our good works. Secondly, grace has the power to affect our experiences in life. Grace has the power to help us overcome our weaknesses because grace is God's ability overcoming our inability.

"But whatever I am now it is all because God poured out such kindness and grace upon me—and not without results: for I have worked harder than all the other apostles, yet actually I wasn't doing it, but God working in me, to bless me." 1 Corinthians 15:10

It means therefore that where you used to be the worst before, grace can turn you into the best when you receive it by faith. Where you used to fail, grace can turn you into a complete success. Grace can totally change your experience because Grace is simply God working for you, through you and in you. Grace helps you achieve what you never could in your power.

A word of caution at this point, Grace is not an excuse for idleness, indolence or irresponsibility. The Grace of God does not empower you to be lazy considering God Himself works. John 5:17. If you because you are under grace, God is working for you and you don't put your hands to work, there is no way poverty, lack and want will not be your companions.

Action Plan:- Receive the grace of God on the work of your hands.

Prayer:- Lord I receive your grace afresh.
